You are looking for something
	in the aquarium
something moving in the dark water
something important, like the memory
	of a flower opening only once
something elusive, like that same
	flower.

You were not expecting this fever
	of tropical gardens
caged fluids that enter the blood
crowding color in the veins, pulsing
gold, and crazy orange.

…or that these fitful shapes
could so unerringly
find the heart, shadowed as it is
in blue and yet darker blue
waiting in night water for its one moment,
a subtle zebra fish,
lurking in coral.
